Menifee Resident Accused of Animal Cruelty
Felony animal cruelty charges have been filed against a Menifee resident this Tuesday. Larry Jaurequi was arrested after people saw him strike a neighbors Chihuahua with a golf club. Consequently, he is also facing an additional charge of using a dangerous or deadly weapon.
According to police reports, the small 6-pound Chihuahua named Lily, wandered off from her home on Summitrose Drive. Jaureaqui who lived close by, took a golf club with him and without warning, hit the dog, which promptly send the animal flying through the air. Lily suffered from a lacerated liver, broken leg, and head trauma, to which she later succumbed to and died. If sentenced, Jaureaqui could be facing up to 4 years in prison.
