Escondido--Six Arrested on Suspicion of Carjacking
The Escondido Police Department arrested six individuals on suspicion of crimes related to vehicle theft or carjacking.
According to Lt. Mark Wrisley, police responded to a report of a robbery in the 700 block of East Valley Parkway at approximately 6:36 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
Wrisley said the suspect was driving his maroon 1995 Pathfinder with an 18 year-old woman and two teenage girls and met with another 18 year-old man and two teenage boys.
Shortly thereafter, someone in the group threatened a man with a knife and demanded his money and vehicle. After they robbed the man, the suspects allegedly pushed him out of his vehicle and drove away.
Escondido police officers spotted the 1995 Pathfinder near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Midway Drive and made a gunpoint stop at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Harding.
All six suspects were arrested on suspicion of crimes related to carjacking. The two 18 year-old adults were identified as Escondido residents, Alfredo Alonso Jr. and Maria Azucar. Four juveniles ages 16, 13, 16, and 17 were also arrested.
