James N. Dicks attended Western State University School of Law and graduated in 1987. That same year, he took the California State Bar Examination and passed on his first attempt. Mr. Dicks joined the Los Angeles County Public Defenders Office in 1987 and tried numerous cases obtaining astonishing results. In 1988, Mr. Dicks moved to San Diego County and joined the San Diego County Public Defenders Office where he continued his success as a Trial Lawyer. In 1990, Mr. Dicks founded his own private practice which has now grown to include two offices, one in North County and one in San Diego County, a staff of paralegals, investigators, case managers, and other support personnel.
Not only has Mr. Dicks tried hundreds of criminal cases, but throughout his career, he has earned the respect of Judges and Prosecutors for the vigorous defense he provides for his clients. Mr. Dicks has lectured at several Criminal Defense seminars on how to cross-examine Police Officers on the witness stand. He has also lectured to Criminal Defense Associations and Criminal Defense Bar Associations on the defense of drug cases.
Mr. Dicks is certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of the California State Bar as a Certified Criminal Law Specialist. As a result, he has been required to pass rigorous requirements of experience, education, training and evaluation by the top
criminal defense attorneys in the state. Mr. Dicks' law practice is devoted exclusively to Criminal Defense. He has defended clients against murder charges, "Three Strikes" cases, as well as virtually every other type of crime, both state and federal.
